What is Root Canal Therapy?
Root Canal Therapy is removing the nerve inside the tooth and replacing it with a filling material. Usually when a tooth is very painful it means that the cavity has reached its nerve. After Root Canal Treatment the pain goes away gradually and the patient is relieved!
When is Root Canal Therapy needed?
Root Canal Therapy is needed when the tooth decay has reached the nerve of the tooth. In that case the nerve of the tooth is damaged and inflamed. It may be needed in some cases of broken tooth as well.
How much is Root Canal Therapy? Is Root Canal Therapy covered by insurance?
The price of Root Canal Treatment depend on the tooth and number of canals in the tooth, so it varies. At Laird Dental we follow Ontario Dental Association suggested fee guide. In most cases Root Canal Therapy is covered by dental insurances, but please check with your insurance to be sure.
Do I need a crown/cap after Root Canal Therapy?
At Laird Dental Associates we strongly recommend our patients to immediately start the crown procedure after completion of a Root Canal Therapy. The reason being the tooth that undergoes Root Canal Treatment becomes very brittle and breaks easily. In most cases a broken tooth needs to be extracted. We do our best to make sure our lovely patients keep their teeth as long as possible!
