Brushing and flossing even if done regularly can not get under the gums. Professional dental cleaning during a hygiene appointment removes the deposits under the gum where no brush can reach.
-Soft deposits on the teeth can be removed with brushing but when they become hard, only a professional cleaning can remove them.
